Valentine Adventure

Our Valentine's day started out sweet this year...
The boys had their Valentine shirts on. Preston's says "Future Heart Breaker" and Aedan's says "Baby's first Valentine's Day"

Later that day Preston got really sick and we thought he had a bowel obstruction or bowel telescoping. He was not feeling so great the day before but then started laying on the floor, barely moving, moaning in pain, and looking pale. He kept asking me to change his diaper--even though it was clean--so I did, and when he stood up his tummy was really distended and then he started throwing up over and over again. We called his doctor's office to just tell them what was going on and what we thought and they agreed we should take him to the ER. So off to Cook Children's we went! After an assessment from the doc he got an IV, labs drawn, lots of IV fluids, an abdominal ultrasound, and an xray. Turns out he just had really bad gastroenteritis...or in other words...a bad stomach bug. He was really dehydrated after all that and so he felt much better after he got all the IV fluids. He really scared us, but he was fine! Luckily, for and ER experience, it was actually pretty good. David's childhood friend is an EMT there and just happened to meet us right as we came in. The only not-so-good part was the bill!! Wow! Don't even get me started on that. It's crazy how much you pay for insurance and then how much you end up paying out of pocket anyway. :( Let's just say it's a Valentine's Day we won't forget! <3
