Today my big boy Preston is 21 months old! And Aedan will be 3 weeks old tomorrow! The time is flying by, but yet it goes by slow. The days (and especially nights) can be so long with a newborn and energetic toddler. Although thank goodness Preston is a good sleeper! I have started venturing out of the house to run errands and visit a few friends with both the boys in tow. It makes me nervous to handle them both in public, but it's getting easier. After almost a couple of weeks not really going anywhere I was starting to get totally stir crazy. I remember feeling so anxious and overwhelmed when Preston was born, and feeling like I couldn't even put him down...let alone go anywhere. But this time it doesn't seem quite as difficult to have a newborn. Although it's still just difficult to take care of a baby! Preston has been helpful in his own way and it's kinda nice to have a little buddy to keep me company throughout the day. I don't know if that makes sense...but even though he's not even two yet, he's my friend and we enjoy spending time together. Although I love Aedan just as much, it's harder to take care of a totally dependent baby...because they are not able to give that love back in return the way a toddler or older child can. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, I just feel so blessed to have these two sweet boys and I'm so grateful for David as well. The other night I was so exhausted and Aedan was unusually fussy...so David took Aedan and let me sleep for about 3 hours in the middle of the night while he stayed up with Aedan. David even had to work the next day and didn't complain once. He just knew I was at the end of my sleep deprivation rope for the night and took over. Amazing what sleep can mean to you when it's lacking! :)
