Rough Times

Preston was 3 weeks old last Tuesday and the day after that he began having some rough times. :( It's basically been trial and error to figure out what's going on, and it has been exhausting! Basically Preston has been fussy and not sleeping well...and we think we've narrowed it down to reflux. So I've been working on making sure he gets a good feeding and then I sit him up for a bit before putting him down to sleep and that seems to help. If I feed him and then put him down to sleep when he falls asleep on me (which he usually does) then he will wake up right away acting very uncomfortable and won't settle down unless I hold him. Today, for the first time in several days, he finally took a nap in his own crib for about 2-3 hours. Hopefully this method will continue to work. Luckily it seems like a mild case of reflux...nothing severe...but enough to make him uncomfortable to where no one is getting sleep. I'm glad David works nights right now because when he has his days off I am able to get some pretty good sleep!

Otherwise we've been watching the Olympics and slowly getting back to "normal". By normal I mean I actually leave the house if at least to go run a quick errand and doing something besides feed and change Preston, eat, and sleep! Well, except for when we have the rough times. I really wanted to take Preston to church on Sunday...but he had a bad night and neither of us got sleep and David worked 7pm-7am Saturday night and didn't get in til about 7:30am Sunday morning. We will try again next week! David doesn't work next Saturday night so hopefully we will all get enough sleep to make it to church.

Also, my brother's getting married this Saturday! It will be the first real social function Preston will go to. I'm hoping he is well rested and feeling good so that he will sleep the majority of the time. If he's awake and happy that's ok too. :) I am also excited because my sister is coming into town Thursday night and will be here through the weekend to go to the wedding and visit! It's a rare occasion to get to see her. Although I've been lucky and got to see her last March, November, and December. I'm glad she gets to be here for the wedding and of course to meet Preston. The next time we see her will probably be when we go visit her out in Arizona. I'm hoping we can make a trip either at the end of the year or early next year before it gets too hot out there.

Wow, I am just rambling now. Preston is actually napping again right now, and I am taking advantage of his happy nap time! Here's some newer pictures of our little Preston! :)

He lives up to this

Sorry that Preston has been having tummy trouble. He is still super cute though! Glad that you are able to get a little bit of sleep with David working nights

He is so cute. I am sorry you have been having difficulties but it sounds like you are getting it figured out...I guess that is what parenting is about...trial and error..

My little boy has the same I love mommy shirt. Can't wait for him to wear it. Brooklyn was 9lbs. 8.4 oz., so pretty darn close to 10 lbs. Preston is so adorable. I hope that things continue to get better for everyone and you get on a routine and get some sleep. I know some days are going to be tough, but they are all worth it I promise.

I see he has really filled out! I'm happy to know he's starting to sleep a little better so that you and David can get your rest too.
We really want to come by soon and visit with all of you.
Love,
Mom
